CentOS + BlueQuartz Server Appliances are relieable and inexpensively priced turn-key devices, which allow you to run your own web-, email- and ftp-server within minutes. Regardless if you want to host just your own website, multiple websites, or want to offer shared hosting for a multitude of clients. The CentOS + BlueQuartz Server Appliances are the much more modern cousins of the Sun Cobalt RaQs, which are still in widespread use, but are no longer manufactured.
CentOS is an Enterprise-class Linux Distribution derived from sources freely provided to the public by a prominent North American Enterprise Linux vendor (read that as RedHat). CentOS conforms fully with the upstream vendors redistribution policy and aims to be 100% binary compatible. CentOS mainly changes packages to remove upstream vendor branding and artwork. CentOS is free.
BlueQuartz is an open source project which is based on the Sun Cobalt Sausalito architecture of the Cobalt RaQ550. BlueQuartz provides the same GUI functionality which a RaQ550 provides - minus the Chilisoft ASP support (available, but costs extra). Frontpage 2002 support is available as free PKG download and pre-installed on our servers. Sites, users, mailinglists and settings can easily be imported from an existing Sun Cobalt RaQ to a server running BlueQuartz - through the CMU utility.
The CentOS + BlueQuartz Server Appliances we manufacture are shipped with all the software pre-installed and pre-configured. After unpacking you just need to connect the power cord and network cable, configure the network settings and instantly have a full working internet server which can easily be administrated through a browser based web-interface. Adding sites, users and email accounts and most of the mundane tasks of server administration can then be performed through the GUI.
