Your new server uses RAID-1 (mirroring). It provides for a level of redundancy should one of your new drives fail!
RAID Tools integrates into Active Monitor so you will get notices about RAID status! It also includes the needed tools to rebuild raid without intervention! Simply replace your old drive, and reboot! It will rebuild automatically! You may need to put working drive on primary channel should your server not boot back up! Should you wish to test RAID before you put your box into production, this is how you would do it
RAID must already be setup and working before this package is installed!
How can I test RAID?
* This example assumes "sdb" is your 2nd drive. If it isn't, use "hdc".
- First tell RAID your drives are faulty
- Now tell RAID to remove it
- You can check the status of RAID by doing;
It should show you:
* Please note, your blocks may be different then shown here.
- Now, you can reboot. Your RAID should rebuild itself!!. Or do it manually;
It should output the following:
- A good working output of /proc/mdstat
